Received from a friend today:

“I disapprove of what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it.” Was not said by Voltaire, but by S. G. Tallentyre, the pen name for Evelyn Beatrice Hall. This was in her 1906 book “The Friends of Voltaire” and was stated in order to summarize her opinion of Voltaire’s beliefs.

OK. So noted. Everyone got that? Good. Bloody marvellous. I’m off to flagellate myself with a tattered copy of the nearest quotations dictionary I can find, before carving myself a sour grape snowboard, whatever the hell that is.

Seems like sound advice from somebody who is no doubt charming and dashingly good-looking to boot.
