What’s a mousehead?  I am of course deeply offended being half Canadian…eh

This is not an unfair representation of the United States, how we use other countries, and how we know very little about the world outside our own borders. The only thing I might change about the map would be to put the USA in the center, because that’s where most of us think we are.

Nick – for Mousehead read Moosehead – I think it’s a typo on an otherwise excellent and highly accurate map.

An impressive admission Ed, but then I doubt very much that the map is representative of your point of view?

There are a lot of fine examples of maps that have been altered to take the emphasis away from London GMT as the center of the universe, but it’s historically always been that way because 0 degrees longitude sits at Greenwich – so I guess the British think we’re in the center as well. Upside down maps and the like do make a refreshing change, and even the projection of maps has been tinkered with in the past to give greater emphasis to the huge landmasses of the developing world… so this map of the US, even though it is satirical, is only one in a long line of maps being used as political statements.

Thanks MrsDanvers – yep, the Peters Projection is one we have at home here. It gives a very different perspective on things.
